About the Founders
New Journey New Hope was born from the combined expertise and shared passion of
Dr. Daryl Anderson and Ayzha Corbett, LCPC, who joined forces to address the critical need for comprehensive mental health services in Maryland.
Meet Our Founders
Dr. Anderson and Ayzha united their expertise—his in education and her in clinical mental health—to create a holistic approach to care at New Journey New Hope. Together, they focus on delivering culturally competent, compassionate services that empower individuals and strengthen families and communities. Their shared vision of integrating education, mental health, and empowerment continues to drive the transformative impact of New Journey New Hope.
Dr. Daryl Anderson
Dr. Daryl Anderson, a veteran special educator with over 28 years of experience in the Maryland Public School System, witnessed firsthand the emotional and social challenges faced by students, particularly immigrant children navigating the family reunification process. These children often struggled to reconnect with their parents after years apart while adapting to new environments. Dr. Anderson also identified a significant gap in mental health support for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), who often lacked access to the wraparound services they needed. Motivated by these challenges, he envisioned New Journey New Hope as a bridge between education and mental health care, fostering resilience and community healing.

Ayzha Corbett, LCPC
Ayzha Corbett’s journey to New Journey New Hope was shaped by her diverse career path, which began at Johns Hopkins University’s Department of Mental Health at the age of 19. This early exposure ignited her passion for mental health and helping others. However, her experiences in higher education and corporate America revealed the pervasive racial trauma faced by young, intelligent Black women in these spaces. These experiences inspired Ayzha to shift her career toward counseling, where she could create safe and empowering spaces for others.
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a Master of Science in Counseling, Ayzha specializes in strength-based approaches, solution-focused therapy, positive psychology, and cognitive behavioral therapy, particularly with BIPOC girls and women. Her therapeutic practice emphasizes recognizing inner strength and embracing vulnerability, principles she first observed during her administrative career. These values now guide her commitment to helping individuals reclaim their confidence and build fulfilling lives.
